Every time my family would go overseas, the only souvenir I ask from them... are PICTURES. They are the best (and cheapest) souvenirs they can bring and the story that comes with it will forever be remembered. So, the first time Mom and Dad went with my grandparents for a business trip, my Mom took this photo that she saw outside the window at the hotel they were staying at.
...
I was a little bit nervous for this trip since this is going to be the first time I'll be travelling overseas without my parents, plus, I'll be stuck with two elderly... so I had this deep gnawing sensation of being the responsible one in times of need at the immigration or something. Things were off to a good start and we arrived at Shanghai after hours and hours of flying and commuting.
It was finally nighttime when we were finally able to check-in to our hotel, so I didn't bother surveying around the room... I wanted to get out and see the city at night. So off I went. Come next morning, I was the earliest one up so I was surveying around the room while waiting for my grandparents... I opened the blinds to the curtains of the window and what I saw next gave me goosebumps.
The same scene my Mom took a picture of 2 years ago, albeit, a different angle, on that fine sunny morning. I instantly recognized the scene the moment I saw it! The scene from outside the window was SO familiar to me because I liked that picture so much and I had Mom's photo up on my Flickr account. I was jumping up and down as I ran to grab my camera and snapped a shot. This was taken approx. 2 years after the first shot was taken, September 11, 2011.
It may have been just a small sensational event... but yes, sensational indeed.
