.Okay, so I know there are already a lot of guides out there online but as I was going through JB-ing my Pod, I didn't get to see a single site that informed everything I needed to know. It took me a whole effin' hour to JB my Pod (and of course, cater my questions and curiosities, because I really can't stand not knowing why and what the purpose is for and I really NEED to know!). So I'm blogging this guide for a friend to save her the trouble of what I've been through. Nuff said, let's get this on!
.First up, Jailbreaking is now legal, FYI to those who didn't know. Proof? www.cnet.com/8301-17918_1-20011824-85.html Still not convinced? That's your problem.
Step 1: Back up everything from your device. You can find it in your iTunes and just by right-clicking on your device, you'll see Back Up.
Step 2: Follow these instructions here: http://www.redmondpie.com/jailbreak-ipod-touch-3g-2g-mc-model-ios-4.0-with-jailbreakme-2.0-star-how-to-video-guide/ (Would've wanted to copy the whole thing, but that's just not right, is it? And also, I'm too lazy. Nyahahaha!)
Now that Cydia has finally been installed. This will allow you to install some 3rd party apps in your Pod.
Step 3: Open up Cydia for the first time and you might notice upgrades that are needed in the app. Tap on "Upgrade Essential" and confirm the installation.
Step 4: Run Cydia as User with graphical interface. I don't exactly remember the exact words, but I know you'll get it.
Step 5: Scroll down until you see "Make my life easier". This creates an SHSH blob allowing you to backtrack or downgrade a firmware version for the future.
Step 6: Now, we're off to adding apps! Tap on "Manage" found on the bottom right of the app.
Step 7: Tap on "Sources" and a list of all your sources will be shown already.
Step 8: Tap on "Edit" on the upper right corner of the app.
Step 9: Tap on "Add" that'll appear on the upper left of the app and this will prompt you to Enter Cydia/APT URL.
Step 10: Enter http://cydia.hackulo.us and then tap on Add Source.
The screen will now show you that it is downloading the stuff needed from the source and when that's all done, we can now search for AppSync for OS 4.0 (this allows you to drag and drop .ipa files via iTunes and prevents error 0xE8008001).
Step 11: Tap on "Search" found at the lower right corner of the Cydia app and look for AppSync for OS 4.0. Install the app and now we're ready to drag-and-drop some apps.
Step 12: I visited http://apptrackr.org for a list of apps, so you can choose from there. Select the app that you want and download its .ipa file to your computer. This works easily as manipulating files in the computer now.
Step 13: Open your iTunes again. Drag and drop your downloaded .ipa file to the Apps window on your Library.
This should be available in your list of Applications now and it'll be okay for installation the next time you Sync with your Pod.
So, there you have it! Hope this helps!

I don't have the patience to follow looooooooooong instructions and no guts too. What I don't like in iOS4 is that leaving your wi-fi switched on drains the batt quicker than when i still had an iOS3, and it's laggy too... the new interface seems great though.
i mean i don't have the guts to do JB especially the gadget ain't cheap and the far far away service centers.
It's actually ok bya :) you just need a WHOLE lot of spunk! ...and prayers~ xD hahahaha~
